I am currently working for RCIP(Regional Communication Infrastructure Program) a program under Rwanda Development Board, to provide country wide telecommunications connectivity, also supports financing technical assistance to promote sector liberalization, resolve market efficiency gaps and harmonize connectivity-related policy and regulatory frameworks.The project�s development objective is to lower prices for international capacity and to extend the geographic reach of broadband networks in Rwanda and to foster private sector led growth of the ICT sector by promoting and accelerating widespread access to ICT services, particularly in rural areas. I work as a broadband systems specialists with duties and responsibilities such as:
�Provide strategic advice to the Lead technical manager on the state of current technologies within the ICT sector relevant to the ongoing strategic innovations of the RCIP Project;
�Translate technological capabilities into strategic business decisions by identifying the role that specific technologies will play in the implementation of RCIP project;
�Develop technical specifications for strengthening Government network infrastructure including telecommunication infrastructure for Districts and rural areas; 
�Prepare Terms of Reference (ToR) for supply of goods, provision of civil works and consultancy services; 
�Promote conducive environment for the development of ICT service providers in the software and hardware industries and develop managerial depth and working relationship with the private sector in ICT;
�Analyze and make decisions about which technologies are most likely to generate the highest impact to the citizens;
�Monitor new technologies and assessing their potential to become new RCIP products or services;
�Oversee the selection of applications to insure that they have the potential to add value to Rwandan citizens;
�Provide reliable technical assessments of potential mergers and acquisitions of hardware and software for RCIPRW implementation; 
�Development of technical specifications for consultancy services related to internet connection of targeted Rwanda institutions; 
�Supervise all RCIPRW  projects; 
�Continuously monitor and provide technical guidance for the review of existing laws and advice the RCIPRW team on appropriate laws and regulations necessary to be promulgated to improve upon the ICT environment in Rwanda.

The Core network is comprised of cisco routers and switches(6500,7204s) and Secui firewalls and connects to different sites which are also using Cisco Products and firewalls as well.The NOC uses monitoring systems such as Cacti, WhatsupGOLD, PRTG, and these run on CentOS platform. As i have attended one Afnog Workshop and had training on network infrastructure, with various experience in routing with an exposure of Linux environment, it is a added value and knowledge to qualify for the Scalable Internet Services Track.

With the knowledge i have got from the SI-E track, i have been able to participate in the setup of connectivity with an international ISP with different areas covered like BGP and multihoming, running OSPF protocols in core routers for better communications.
